Quanta Computer Inc. and Asustek Computer Inc. have denied a newspaper report that they approached Balda AG, a German maker of mobile-phone parts, for a possible strategic partnership, Bloomberg News relates. Bloomberg explains that Qunata and Asustek are among the four Asian electronics makers that were reported by Handelsblatt as being attracted by Balda's know-how in the production of touch- screen components. The Handelsblatt report also mentioned Flextronics International Ltd. and Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. as also being interested in a partnership with Balda. Headquartered in Taiwan, Quanta Computer Inc. -- http://www.quantatw.com/ -- is principally engaged in the manufacture, research, development and sale of laptop computers and components. The company offers laptops, cellular telephones, liquid crystal display televisions, servers, LCD monitors, computer peripherals, computer components, wireless local area network (WLAN) bridges and communications products.
