ENERGIAS DO BRASIL: To Acquire Resende from Omega Engenharia
Energias do Brasil S.A. has signed a memorandum of understanding with engineering company Omega Engenharia to acquire the 500- megawatt Resende combined cycle construction project in Rio de Janeiro.
The memorandum of understanding is "subject to due diligence," Business News Americas relates, citing Energias do Brasil.
BNamericas relates that Resende has a preliminary environmental license and "holds a call on the project land."
Funding for the project is still being negotiated, BNamericas states.
Energias do Brasil S.A. is an integrated utility group controlled by Energias de Portugal, with activities in generation, distribution and commercialization of electricity. Its power distribution subsdiaries Bandeirante, Escelsa and Enersul represent altogether some 64% of consolidated total assets, while the power generation assets represent some 31%.
